Mythological, Lord Shiva’s son Kartik had visited Kheerganga and meditated here for thousands of years.  A bath in the springs is hence considered to be divine, sacred and meditative.

The name Kheerganga means milky white sacred water and the water of the springs there is worshiped to be sacred and the colour does match with that of milk. Making trekkers believe that it is actually the milky white scared water as the name goes.
